This gallery features some of my photography on the streets of Brighton during the winter of 2020. I had a lot of time on my hands in November and December.
Brighton and Sussex Photography Blog
My Brighton and Sussex photography blog features local articles and photo galleries. Plus information for photographers in the area. I'm Ray, a professional photographer based in Brighton. Strictly speaking it's the city of Brighton and Hove, actually! I mostly feature my personal projects and useful information here. It's a hub for photography locally. However, if you want to work with me professionally, please do contact me.
As a photographer I'm lucky to be based in Brighton, it's a wonderful city for photography. Brighton is also a hugely popular seaside resort that attracts tourists from all over the world.
Brighton and Hove
The city of Brighton and Hove is located on the East Sussex coast, about an hour from London. The city itself has so many iconic sights to photograph.
Brighton is a goldmine for street photographers. To give you an idea I include one recent gallery below. However, if you're interested, you can see all of my work as a Brighton street photographer here.
Sussex for Landscape Photographers
If you're a seascape or landscape photographer you're in luck and spoilt for choice in Sussex.
Brighton borders the South Downs National Park, famous for its charming villages and beautiful countryside.
There's also the famous Seven Sisters Cliffs to the east of Brighton, which continue all the way to Beachy Head near Eastbourne.
In the Seven Sisters area you also have the Cuckmere Haven flood plains, where the Cuckmere River estuary joins the English Channel.
The Sussex seaside towns of Worthing and Eastbourne are close to Brighton and well worth a visit. Further to the west the ancient Roman city of Chichester is another favourite. The photographic opportunities in this part of the UK are endless!
Brighton and Hove Camera Club
Finally, if you're a local photographer, I'd thoroughly recommend joining Brighton and Hove Camera Club - BHCC. Beginners through to professional photographers like myself are all welcome at the club. Club website.
Alternatively, you can see more of my photography here, featuring a wider range of photographic genres and locations.
A tour to the Rampion Wind Farm on a boat trip from Brighton Marina is highly recommended. I think it’s one of the best tours in Sussex for photography.
Back in August I went to Eastbourne in East Sussex for a street photography session. I stopped off at nearby Seaford Beach too.
The Brighton and Hove Camera Club Seafront Photography Exhibition for 2020-21 is on display on the Beach. The theme is “Our City”
Here are some photos of Brighton featuring my pictures. Plus photography locations and ideas for visiting photographers.
I have now completed my first year as a member of Brighton and Hove Camera Club (BHCC for short). This post documents my first season of membership.
I attended the Black Lives Matter or BLM march in Brighton on Saturday 13th June 2020 to make this photo documentary about the protest.
