I grew up on the streets of London, well the South London suburbs to be precise. So it’s ironic I’ve never photographed them before. This is my London Street Photography project.
I left London over 20 years ago so I do have an excuse. But it’s something I’ve been meaning to rectify ever since.
London – Street Photography Project
With that in mind I decided to make “London” a street photography project for 2020, whenever I can find time to travel back to my home city and make it happen.
London Day Trip
By coincidence some of my photography friends had similar thoughts and a London day trip was agreed over a pint or two. So, with all the finesse of a Walrus balancing on a tightrope, our inaugural trip to London was planned. The end result? A rather motley crew comprising of Luis, David, Greig and myself descended upon London a couple of weeks ago.
A long day!
It was a long day and a lot of fun. I left home at 7.30am and got back at 11.30pm.
We walked bloody miles! I think it was Luis who noted on his iWatch pedometer that we’d walked over 13 miles.
Thankfully he gave us this vital information during our recovery session in a pub outside Blackfriars station whilst waiting for our train back to Brighton.
Those pints were vital. Nobody wanted to die of dehydration….
Photographically speaking it was a hard day. I think we all felt the same way.
The implications of Coronavirus (Covid-19) had just started to be felt in London and the streets seemed very quiet as a result.
Plus, I think we all agreed, it’s easier to “do” photography on your own. I wouldn’t trade that for a very enjoyable social day out though.
Anyway, here are some images from the day…..
